multi-layered floral card by lauren bergold

being more of a card-maker than a scrapbooker, i am sometimes a bit stumped by an utterly gorgeous piece of 12x12 paper, such as this one from prima, which is featured in the december pixie dust paperie kit:

look at how beautifully balanced that is: the gorgeous painted florals and soft white swirls encompass the entire edge...there's no one portion that doesn't work perfectly as part of the entire sheet! it'd nearly be a sin to cut into that thing, wouldn't it? on the other hand, it's extremely difficult to mail 12x12 greeting cards! :)

...what to do...what to do...

the only solution seems to be to fussy-cut *ALL* the flowery bits, and re-assemble them into one much smaller, much more concentrated card; but no one's THAT CRAZY!

except *ME* obviously!!!!! :) :) :)

the shot above is from sort of a funny angle, but i wanted to show how i've very lightly inked the edges, and popped each individual floral section onto at least one layer-- (sometimes 2 or 3!) --of foam tape before overlapping it with anything else, so that there is plenty of dimension between the blooms...like in a real garden! i've slipped in a few doilies cut from the packaging of the paper & crocheted flowers in the kit, as well, because that's the thing about prima products: even the PACKAGING is too pretty to throw away!

ok, yeah, i admit it: this is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much scissor-action for an ORDINARY card, but one of my dearest friends, who was a bridesmaid in my wedding 25 years ago (!!!), is turning 50 this year...and that's the sort of thing for which one really ought to pull out all the stops, don't you think?! ♥♥♥

"Happy Destination" Layout by Jessy Christopher

I love to travel since young and I had the opportunity to travel with my parents on the ship for a year when I was about a year old. My dad was a ship Captain back then. I wish I ccould remember where I have been and experienced but I was too young back then. There are photos of me staying in the ship and I was glad that my parents managed to capture those precious memories.

I am glad that my other half enjoys traveling too. The best part... we even have travel buddies. They introduced us to many beautiful beaches and we fell in love with all the islands we visited since last year. This year, we visited Redang Island last June and we loved that island alot - beautiful sea and powdery white sand.

In this layout, all I did was to enhance the MME Lost & Found paper that acted as my background by adding some interesting details.

1. I used the Prima Journaling card (Nov Kit - Snow Shoe) as the photo mat.
2. Cut the doily from the Prima flower packaging.
3. Added the "Destination" card by Tattered Angels.
4. Finally, just embellish the layout with Prima flowers that is in the Dec kit.

See the glittery triangle border? I peeled them out from the bottom of the MME glittered alpha to make them as borders here in this layout. Cool huh?

What do you do with the strip of manufacturer's info at the bottom of each patterned paper? I used them as my journaling strip. Another way to recycle!!

A very simple layout and I hope you will grab a kit for yourself today!!

Xoxo Jessy

savor the journey card by lauren bergold

i think i'm probably the first person to combine december's pixie dust paperie kit with harley davidson motorcyles, but maybe i won't be the last, because i think this card came out rather well:
i ♥love♥ the pack of travel-themed tattered angels bingo boards that came in this month's kit; so much so, that when my sister-in-law sent along this photo of her hubby with his early birthday present, i knew i had the start of something good!
i printed the picture, carefully trimmed my b-i-l from the background, and raised the image on foam tape. i added some purple highlights to a bingo board and one of the calling cards with glimmer mist from the kit. i layered a few mats, and made my own photo corners & diecut flourishes with papers from the kit. ok, yes, i did cheat VERY SLIGHTLY by bringing in a little bit of thin crafter's sheet metal (you can also flatten out regular SODA CANS!) which i embellished with cuttlebug's "diamond pane" embossing folder...but the effect is soooooo darned cool, i'm hoping pixie-in-chief kirsty vittetoe will forgive me! :)

and there you have it: proof of the super-versatility of pixie dust kits...AND...a completely customized birthday card for my one-of-a-kind brother-in-law!

Kirsty's Note -
Brilliant creation! I love this masculine card, once again, you have showcased how versatile the Pixie Kit can be, great job Pixie Lauren!

notebook

Hello all
It's me miss Z:)

When I first saw this paper I knew immediately that I would use it to do an elegant and feminine notebook. And here it is. I did not add so many decorations because the paper itself is very decorative.

Greetings from Poland:)

Je t'aime by Lori Hairston

I love tags!  They just make a package that much more special.  It's amazing how a great tag can take a brown paper bag to the next level.  I realized as I was taking this photo that the packaging I used to create this tag is actually from the November kit.  I must have mixed it in with all the November stuff!  But everything else is the December kit.  I love these crochet flowers.  They are so dressy!
I can't say enough about the MME papers.  They are just fabulous!
One of the fun things about this tag besides the background being "trash", is that the top is "trash" too!  I used the piece that is perforated that comes off the bottom of the paper and then stapled my sentiment to it.  Je t'aime!

"Alia & Jessy" Layout by Jessy Christopher

I'm thankful that my boss, Alia & I have such wonderful relationship. I consider her more of my good friend rather than boss. That way I can speak out or approach her better. She has been the sweetest person I have ever known and that is rare to find a good boss :)

Guess what, our Chief Pixie is another great lady boss! She has pampered her team with awesome choices in her kit and we're grateful for her too! Thanks Kirsty. Hugs!

I made these pretty roses out of yellow cardstock and misted them with the glimmer mist!

I love the Prima alpha (Nov kit) because of its funky lettering!

Don't you love those pink pom-poms? They are so pretty that I couldn't resist to use them in this layout. What better way to express your thoughts in journaling form, something you can look back again and treasure those sweet moments!

Xoxo Jessy

Smile - LO

Hello

Today I want to show you the LO with full of joy photo taken on the day of my 30th birthday, on the picture is my and my daughter. In the year of my 30th birthday she celebrated her 3rd birthday, that's why the numbers 30 and 3.

Today is Christmas Eve everyone in Poland is waiting impatiently for this special day. In Poland we begin the celebration today. People prepare dishes and bake cakes, which are special for this occasion. Total number of the dishes should by 12 like the number of apostles.
In the morning people decorate Christmas tree. In the afternoon we prepare the evening table with one additional cover for "unexpected guest". We dress up festively and wait for the first star on the sky, which is the symbol of the Jesus birth in Bethlehem. First star is also the signal to start the evening meal. We are sharing the holy wafer. During the supper we try every dish according to this custom it should ensure the happiness throughout the whole next year. We talk and sing Christmas carols, after dinner we open gifts.
At night people go to the church for the midnight mass.

Now I want to send you those smiling faces in my project with the wishes of joy, love, warmth and magical holidays spent with family atmosphere.
Merry Christmas Everyone!

XOXO

Princess for a day ~ Princess card and Princess layout

It is Princess for a Day here at The Pixie Blog
We have not just one, but two princess projects to show you

First to go
Glittery Princess Card by Lauren Bergold

how gorgeous is the lost & found "princess" paper in the december pixie dust paperie kit? it's glittered...it's got swirls...and a pretty banner... you could easily make a fabulous layout adding nothing but a few photos, but that didn't stop me from piling on some extra touches of my own for a super-special, super-embellished card:

i love the "fleurs de prima" in the kit; the packet has plain and patterned paper blooms as well as crocheted ones! each is wonderful all by itself, but i couldn't resist stacking them and adding a fancy my mind's eye button. i punched some butterflies, and finally added a couple of hand-stitched flourishes to the glittery ones on the paper. i had a maya road mini chipboard crown leftover from october's kit, "fall in love" so i painted, inked and glittered it for a finishing touch.

and here we have a card fit...well...fit for a ♥PRINCESSS♥ of course!!! :)

Thank you Lauren, such a beautiful creation!
Next is my (kirsty)
Piano Princess layout
